Color Blocking Fun

If you haven't noticed, I wear a lot of neutral colors like white, black and tan. For example, my past posts about neutrals and my tie dye outfit. I wanted to put a little more color into my blog so I did a color block outfit for you all! Color blocking is taking bold colors that are opposite on the color wheel and pairing them together to create a wide contrast. Fun fact: black and white is also a color block!
(Tank: Forever 21 // Pants: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Cotton On)
For this, I chose to work with the color blue and bright coral. There is something about these two colors together that I really like. I saw this picture of Kate Beckinsale and got inspiration from her color blocking. The tank and the pants were originally purchased for a photo shoot that I did for a school project but I decided to keep them after because I really liked them! The tank is a thin material and I would normally throw a cardigan or blazer over but today was so hot! It's September and still feels like July. Nonetheless, I will take advantage of the sunshine while it is still here.
One reason why I decided to keep this pair of pants is because they are different. I don't have anything like it. I love the color, fit and price! I believe I got them on sale for just $10! They are high waisted with a ribbon bow belt. It looks good with tops tucked into it. That way you can see the high waist and belt. The structure and fit of the pants give a more tailored look. It slims from the top to bottom, leaving it to look like a skinny fit. The pants are cropped and since I'm shorter but wearing wedges, I cuffed the bottom a couple more times. The inside of the pant is a silk material so the bottom has a little shine.
I paired this color blocking outfit with neutral accessories and shoes. The wedges are new and I got them for such a good deal! Can't go wrong with black wedges! I've recently purchased a bunch of new shoes so maybe I'll do a shoe haul post soon?
I've been loving this sunshine lately! But I know, soon enough I will be putting all the shorts and tanks away and trading them for sweaters, boots and scarfs. I'm excited though! Out with one season, in with the other!
